the WIP that was-or-why the 1/4 inch matters

I like to call this my menopausal quilt. I don't really know what the hell I'm going to do with it except perhaps use it one day to illustrate to a class what happens when you don't have a quarter inch foot and you are in a manic phase. I really loved all these fabrics and made may more nine patches than appear here. There in a box in THE CLOSET OF SHAME. When I put this together, I can't imagine what I was thinking. I only know I wasn't measuring. Probably, I thought (in some parallel universe) once I got it together it would all come out right. NOT, and so it takes up a special place of honor(or horror) on the top of my list of UFOs. So much promise-so little matching of seams. One day I will take it apart and figure something out....but not today! I just want you to notice that I am, if nothing else, consistantly wrong about every measurment in every block. Thank you, thank you very much.

WOW-if you click on it it's even bigger more awful...It made me yelp! Good thing we're friends or you'd drum me out of the group!Did I mention I made this ten years ago?

If I ever made a quilt (and that's very doubtful!) it would most likely not match up anywhere! I think this just shows that you're just like everyone else....we all makes some mistakes from time to time. I try to look at mine as learning experiences....and gosh, I've had a lot of those!!

Let's get this quilted and into the lap of one of the gals who has suffered from the war in Iraq. She will love it forever and you can nix those nagging guilty feelings.

(Believe it or not, machine quilting does wonders to "hide" those seams!)

Layer it, quilt it, and call it "I Meant To Do That." Use a 100% cotton batt and some dense quilting and it'll pucker up so that everone will wonder exactly what it was you meant to do (besides make a lovely quilt)

That quilt reminds me of those journals you kept years ago, and when you go back and re-read them you're embarrassed by how silly you were back then? Try to think of it as a measure of "how far I've progressed!" A measure of improvement.

I wouldn't THINK of taking it apart. Debra and Dorothy are right--get thee to a quilter. You will love it when it comes back. If not, you have a great piece to donate.

Unless you can see it while galloping on a horse...it's all good. Even if you could....done is always better than not.

It should definitely not be taken apart! It will make you even more proud of your future quilts. I need a "closet of shame" to put some of my quilts in. Did you know that if you wrap them around a bar of chocolate and leave them for a while, sometimes they come outlooking better than they went in. It is the chocolate that does it.

Oh, by all means, quilt it! I totally agree that a cotton batting and some nice swirly quilting will do wonders. And girl, its not THAT bad! :)

Wow-I don't know if I should be doing the happy dance because I got Kim and juju to look at my blog or driven insane by the fact that they saw the most wonky thing I ever made. I'm gonna go with happy!!
