Found objects & the search continues

As I unwrap the various layers of stuff stuck in limbo(the closet) and move things to the new room, I keep coming across things I started and never went any further with. This is one of those things. The rows were un-sewn and stuffed into a bag a while back. Probably in the mid 90s from some of the fabrics. I really love making triangles but I stink at it and I'm fairly sure that's why it got stuffed into a plastic bag and forgotten. In my new found mind set where I stop being hard on myself and just have fun, I put the rows together today and even though nothing lined up I'm enjoying looking at it. I'll throw a border and binding on it and use it for a table topper. This was so old that I actually found the triangles had been outlined in light pencil. I must have cut them by hand...BY HAND...can you imagine? Based on my usual math avoidance and sloppiness, it's not really as bad as I thought when I found the bag. It's wavy but wavy and done is better than another UFO.

It's another pretty spring day here and the temps are even a little chilly. I don't mind that since I'm not a hot weather fan. Spring could go on forever as far as I'm concerned. Besides, I need to find a wedding outfit/dress whatever and the faster the time goes by the more panic there is. I do have some information that I'm willing to share but it's not good news. All the pretty dresses are in the small sizes. Crap! Further, I can't find anything in a nice suit with pants. You know what I mean? Perhaps a pair of silk pants and a pretty flowing (coveryourbigboobs) silky top and light jacketkimonowhatever. Now you understand why I'm thinking of having a cocktail at 4 in the afternoon. The sun is over the yardarm isn't it? I leave you with a picture of where I should be sitting to get my sanity back.
Talk to you soon.

I have a class reunion in September...in Virginia. Bare upper arms on women of a certain age rarely look good. (And it is HOT in Virginia in September!) I need to find some sort of a sexy circus tent...

I need something for a wedding in August--not mother of the bride, but aunt of the bride. I am dreading shopping. Everything looks so awful. I like your idea of silk pants and flowy, kimono type top. Or, of course, the sexy circus tent works. Ha!

Ah, yes, it is a problem. The Macy's here used to have some pretty women's size dresses, but I don't know about now. Have you looked there? Good luck, and enjoy that drink!!

I love the triangles--they look great, and if you hadn't said there were parts that didn't match, I would never have noticed!

Finding ANYTHING appropriate to wear to a wedding is difficult. Last year I drove myself crazy trying on everything I could find and then ended up spending way more than I wanted to when I finally found something that fit, looked good, and was fancy enough without being stuffy. Luckily the dress and fine sweater I bought have been called to service more than once! Your idea sounds good.

I've heard it's winetime somewhere, always, right?

I love Suzan's comment....a sexy circus tent!

We've talked about this before so you know I sympathize with you on the shopping issue. Designers are sadistic creatures who insist on putting horizontal stripes on everything, big pockets right over the boob area, and what's up with those damn cap sleeves!!! And why is it when people are getting bigger, the clothes are getting smaller!

I am sympathetic to your shopping dilemma. When I was stepmother of the bride, as a last resort I went to a bridal shop. TADA! They have a zillion things for ladies of a "certain" age and size. But I like your flowy top over pants idea a lot. Make it real colorful--we artists have an image to uphold you know.

Love those triangles . . . . and from here they line up perfectly *S*

I'm with you on clothing shopping - still I know the perfect outfit is out there. Keep looking!

Thank god no one has invited me to a wedding in awhile. In my corner of rural America, there's hardly any place to shop, so the pickings are quite slim. Shop with a brave attitude and maybe the stars will align and you'll find something wonderful.

I love those triangles. When everyone was making their 2,000 piece quilts for the year 2000, I wanted to make one like yours, but I never got around to it.
