Computer woes

I wish I could blame my mood on Blogger but I seriously think it has nothing to do with them and everything to do with my computer. I can't click on anything without getting messages that tell me that a program is not responding and then the whole damn thing just freezes right there....grrrrrrrrrrr. These are not sites that I'm going to for the first time. They are sites I've clicked on for years. I want a new computer. This one is such a royal pain in the butt that working with it is no longer any fun. It's been this way for days. I re-booted, disconnected and plugged back in, all the things that usually make it run better but NO. We just got a new modem a few weeks ago so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Anyway, it's a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that I can't fall into the vast and dark ether and instead, get a few things done. All this is by way of saying I probably won't be blogging much, if at all, for a while and I am having trouble even leaving comments. Know that I am thinking about you, my friends and, when possible, stopping by to visit and see what's up. Hoepfully there will be an answer sooner rather than later but right now my go-to guys are down with terrible colds and feeling very awful. When they get better, I'll think about asking for help.

Hope you're having a more productive day than me. Poor Roger was coughing so hard he was choking last night so we got about 3 hours sleep. He has an immportant meeting to prepare for so the poor guy had to suck it up and go into work for a couple of hours.

Well, I'll talk to you soon, I hope.

Oh no, I hope Roger feels better and you can get some sleep. Computers - can't live without them any more and when they get buggy, the handwriting is on the wall.

I don't know which is worse...a sick computer or a sick husband! My computer woes have been active this month, and my wonderful AVG anti-viral program, told me I'd caught a Trojan Horse...and probably from a quilter/quilting site since that's all I visit! The professional tech guy says that trojans are super common now as they are mutating (with help from their vandal designers)and going into our system files so rapidly that the programs can't stop them in time. My first symptom was not having 'clicks' work. Run your anti-viral programs, and make sure your windows firewall has been up and running. My virus somehow turned my firewall off and then struck! I don't have the tower back yet, nor the full report..but run your programs just in case that's your problem. Good luck with computer and the 'go to' boys!

Hope Roger feels better soon.

I had a similar problem for about three weeks, I couldn't open any "typepad" sites. And then, one day, everything worked again. Go figure.

I would be suspicious that it IS the new modem---it's usually the last new thing that you add that messes everything up!

Sorry you are having these woes and I hope you know a computer whisperer to help you out.

Dee, here are few things that might help you. It might take all day and overnight and if that doesn't work, well, get a new one lol.

First, clean out the cache and delete all cookies. Next right click on start, then on explore and in the windows folder, click on prefect and delete all the files in there. Next click on my computer, click on the c drive and go to the tools tab, under "error checking" click on "check now", put a check in each box to fix file systems errors and scan for etc. and click on start. Windows will tell you can't access and if you want to do that certain thing at next bootup, say yes. The next time you start the pc, it will go into that mode and that might take all day or all night.
Now if you are willing to do all that, send me a note and I will tell you how to do the rest lol. It involves downloading two free programs to clean the registry and clean out files that windows missed.

Rosy's advice is good. Also check and see if your hard drive is almost full. Sometimes they start acting up when they are nearing capacity. It happens sooner than you think.
